The commonly speculated reason Epic bought BC has nothing to do with games, but because they had legal disputes with Google and Apple over app store fees. As soon as they were done with BC, they sold.
That's definitely part of it (Epic mentioned the whole 'fair and open platforms' thing during the purchase), but I don't think it's that single reason alone. It doesn't make sense they'd buy a company of that size solely to make some sort of opaque point.
